Please join us for the ENREC Open House on Wednesday, June 12 from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. 

This is an informal and informative opportunity to learn about your neighbor down the road – the University of Nebraska Research and Extension Center (ENREC).

Come see how ENREC is making a difference. The event is for both rural and urban audiences – see firsthand what we are doing at ENREC and why it matters.

Learn about the latest research, technology, and education involved in bringing safe, nutritious food to the table while protecting the environment.

Christenson Annex Building Tours

Be one of the first to tour the August N. Christenson Building annex.  This expansion is an important step in moving ENREC towards becoming a fully integrated research and extension center.  The expansion was funded through non-tax account funding, including a major contribution from the August N. Christenson Excellence Fund endowment.

Demonstrations & Displays

Not quite sure exactly what is going on at ENREC?  Now is your chance to get a close-up look at what we are doing and learn from some of the people that are making things happen.

  • See how the University is learning and teaching with drones, a hail simulator machine, and beef and science mobile labs. See the Center for Advanced Land Management Information Technologies' "Hercules" (A mobile platform for proximal remote sensing) and equipment that the Nebraska Forestry Service Fire Shop reconditions to loan to volunteer fire districts. 
  • Stop by and visit with the people involved with projects, putting on programs and making things happen.  Learn about Saunders County Extension, Husker Genetics, Greater Nebraska Business Center, precision ag, integrating crops and cattle, bee research, weed science, agroforestry, and more!
  • Get your lawn and garden questions answered from Backyard Farmer. BYF will be on hand at 3:30.
  • ENREC has been serving as a collection site for hay, fencing and livestock supply donations for Nebraska producers impacted by the March flood and blizzard events.  Learn about the project and the University's role in leading disaster relief.
  • Who works at ENREC and what do they do?  Learn why the work that they are doing is important to Nebraska.

Optional 45-minute guided bus tours will be provided at 2 different times.   Tour ENREC and see where research and education are taking place.

Backyard Farmer Experts on Hand

Get your lawn and garden questions answered from Backyard Farmer. BYF will be on hand at 3:30

4:15 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.
